Taketa History and Culture Museum・Yugakkan 竹田市歴史文化館・由学館

This museum unravels the history of the Oka Castle Ruins, Tanomura Chikuden, and Taketa city. The building which stands along the streets of the castle town is designed to look like a long fence that combines white walls and bamboo lattices.
Inside the building, there is the Oka Castle Ruins Guidance Center, the citizens gallery and the special exhibition section.
Including a diorama of the Oka Castle, there are various exhibitions such as a theater that show the history of Oka Castle with animation. To know some backgrounds of Taketa city here before you visit there make it more enjoyable.

【Admission fee】 For a special exhibition and admission to Kyu Chikuden-so.
High school students and over : 500yen (Group of more than 20 people : 400yen)
Elementary and junior high students : 300yen (Group of more than 20 people : 200yen)
65 and over : 250yen

岡城と田能村竹田、竹田市の歴史を紐解くミュージアムで、城下町の通りにそってたつ建物は、白壁と竹格子が組み合わさった長い塀のようにデザインされ、外壁を飾る竹の格子は館内にも延長されています。
館内には「岡城ガイダンスセンター」、市民をはじめ様々な文化芸術活動の場「市民ギャラリー」、企画展・特別展を開催する「特別展示室ちくでん館」等があります。
また岡城のジオラマはじめ、岡城の歴史をアニメーションで紹介するシアターなどがあります。ここで竹田の背景を知ることでさらに楽しめます。
