The Kingfisher Resort (Kawasemi no Sho)

The Kingfisher Resort stands on the 100,000 squre-meter highlands overlooking a forest, and the traditional thatched roof of the main building evokes the image of a house in a Japanese fairytale.

The Japanese-style gate is a portal to a modern and sophisticated space. Built by seven master carpenters, each guest room features a unique design offering both style and comfort. All guest rooms, separated by a 300-meter-long corridor at a comfortable distance, like those of a palace, arouse an adventurous spirit.

The original Japanese-Western style food cooked with yamame trout (called enoha by the locals) caught in the area and locally raised Bungo beef and duck are exquisitely delicious.

小高い丘の上から雑木林を望む総面積約3万坪の宿。日本のおとぎ話の世界を体現したような母屋の屋根は、伝統的な「茅葺」です。

純和風の門をくぐるとそこには、モダンで洗練された空間が広がります。七人の棟梁達の手によって造られた、心地よい高級感が漂うそれぞれ意匠の異なるお部屋。そのすべてが離れ仕様になっていて、全長300ｍに及ぶ渡り廊下で結ばれるこの宿の構造はさながら宮殿のようでもあり、大人の冒険心をそそります。

地元の川で獲れる「エノハ」や鴨や「豊後牛」などを使った和洋折衷のオリジナル料理も絶品です。
