Designed by Terunobu Fujimori, this hot spring bath has an impressive rooftop that evokes an old European house and reflects the beauty of pine, the traditional Japanese lumber.
The atmosphere transports visitors into a mysterious world. Located in a secluded area, this hot spring was frequented only by local residents. Its high concentration of carbon-dioxide has given it the name Lamune Onsen, after a carbonated drink called Lamune in Japanese.
Rotating between the mineral and carbonated hot springs made available within one bathhouse is a scientifically proven way of slowly absorbing the carbon-dioxide to increase your body’s ability to efficiently discharge waste.
The facility includes a gallery where works related to this area are on display.
ヨーロッパの古民家を思わせる建物の屋根に、日本家屋の伝統的な建材でもある松が生える印象的な造形。建築家藤森照信氏によるデザインが、訪れるものを不思議な世界へ誘います。
かつては秘湯に近く、地元住民向けだったこの温泉は、炭酸濃度高さから、「ラムネ温泉」の名を持ちます。
同じ浴室内にある「ミネラル温泉」と交互につかることで炭酸ガスをゆっくり体に取り込むことができ、炭酸泉が持つ「老廃物を排出することによる若返り」などの効果を高めることが、科学的にも証明されています。
施設内には地元にゆかりのある作品を鑑賞できる美術館もあります。
